im really glad that im not the only one going through the stress of quitting smoking.
although its my first day im finidng it hard, but reading all of the above, i hope that i can be happy and be a non-smoker.
i spent atleast £20 a week on smoking, and reading this makes me think that, that amount of money could be spent on nice things for me.
i just hope that i can stick to it.

As you know, cigarettes in NYC have skyrocketed up to $10 a pack! I smoke a pack a day!!!! The math is easy, but the reality is quite harsh: Each month I continue to smoke is another month I throw away -- burn up, if you will -- $300 - $310!!!! Urgh!*(3@! (Explicative, hopefully sufficiently masked...) One of the things I've been wanting lately is a new computer. By ditching this habit, I'd could -- without doing anything else -- easily get a VERY tricked out machine in about 10 months. (By adding some other positive activities to that, I'll be able to get it even faster.)
What do I want more than that next smoke? A VERY tricked out computer and wide screen monitor (yesterday!).

If our friends are smokers will it be difficult to spend time socially with them at first, especially after a few alcoholic drinks (as my willpower tends to die a death if I have a drink)?

I put the $$ I would have spent on cigarettes in a big glass jar on kitchen counter. Watching those bucks add up helped make me realize what a jerk I'd been to smoke, and let me fantasize about how I'd treat myself with the money I saw adding up! Became addicted to facials with cigarette money! had never had one earlier in my life...thought they were too expensive...boy did I have some messed up economic/nicotine addicted priorities!

Well, I just started eating and I haven't stopped :)
